About 45000 pots with various high-priced flowers embeded in them imported to Sri Lanka for the
CHOGM Conference held in the year 2013 were used for the purposes of decorating the walls of Araliya Gaha mansion had served no purpose thereafter. The Prime Minister's office has found on checking the account statistics that millions of rupees has been expended to maintain these plants during the months after the said ceremony.

For the purpose of cutting down on unnecessary expenses of the government, these flower-pots have been removed from Temple Trees and it was decided to transport them to Gampaha Henerathgoda Botanical Gardens, the Prime Minister's Secretariat has announced.
