Anura Senanayaka resigns from Post

Senior Superintendent of Police who was in charge of Western Province Mr. Anura Senanayaka has

handed over his resignation to IGP Mr. N.K. Ilangakoon, it is understood. Though he has forwarded his letter of resignation about a week ago, it was only yesterday that this came to be known to the media. The Police Spokesman confirmed this news.

Mr. Anura Senanayaka has a few more months for his resignation. When circumstances was such, it is not clear as to why he has handed over his resignation. It has been reported in a number of media that he has been involved in a number of disputable incidents in connection with the past regime. Even yesterday certain printed media as well as a number of websites quoted that he has some connection with the murder of the owner of Biyagama Village Hotel. Whatever it is, the Police Spokesman had stated that, that information has no foundation as such.

The donation of Rs. 10 million (one crore) made by Anura Senanayaka recently from his earnings from his musical show 'Mage kirilli' to the Police Seva Vanitha Ekakaya was highly displayed by the media.
