Sudarman Radaliyagoda to the remand

over the 'mud story' Maithree - Chamila!

Sudarman Radaliyagoda, Deputy General Manager of the ITN was called to courts today

and subsequently remanded till next 24th for having created a bogus story between Common Candidate Mr. Maithrepala Sirisena and a lady called Chamila during the presidential propaganda period and that the Presidential candidate was keeping her imprisoned by using her son and husband. He was accused for having made use of two electronic media to broadcast false information in a manner that the Presidential Candidate was defamed by using a minor. Colombo Additional Magistrate Mr. Priyantha Liyanage remanded Sudarman and two other suspects in this way.

The said case was heard on investigations carried out on the complaint made before the Presidential Election by the child's mother for having used her son who was a minor, for election purposes. The police had told courts that the news broadcast over the media by Radaliyagoda was a false creation. Even prior to this Sudarman was wanted by courts in relation to an incident over false documents and that too is to be investigated in the future.
