Duminda Silva to the CID!

The Colombo CID had asked Colombo District parliamentarian Duminda Silva to be present there today to record a statement of his and he was present there this morning around 9 o'clock. It was understood

that two lawyers had entered the CID premises accompanied by him.

The Police Spokesman had mentioned that Duminda Silva's name was mentioned in the statement given by Wele Suda about involvement with drug traffickers recently. As such according to instructions issued by courts his bank accounts were to be perused and thus the instructions were carried out. In this respect a special team of police investigators had been deployed and it was also reported that the inquiry in this connection was to be speedily carried out and the results were to be completed within this week.

Duminda Silva and a former Minister and names of a Mayor as well as a former IGP were mentioned in the statement given by Samantha Kumara alias Wele Suda, the latter of whom is alleged to have transported heroin to Sri Lanka across Pakistan including several other Asian countries.
