It was I who gave the voting rights to those in the North

If I didn't do so .. I could have won!

says former President in first public address

After the Presidential defeat former Mahinda Rajapaksa attended his first public meeting yesterday (17). That was the District assembly of the All Ceylon Samurdhi Development Assistant Officers Society. The
former President came clad in short-sleeved shirt and sarong to address the meeting which was held at the Town Hall situated opposite Carlton House in Madamulana. Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa too joined on this occasion.

What the former President said on this occasion was that he was defeated because he went to give voting rights for those in the North. This is how he spoke about it:

"I was defeated by the North and East voting against me because I unified the country after finishing the cruel war of 30 years in the country and brought a settlement among communities. It was I who gave people in the North and East the Right to vote; if not it would be I who would have won!"
