After Dinindu putha was rescued (video)
After the police rescued last night the child Dinindu who was missing since he was kidnapped, he was handed over to his parents without danger and in safety and was sent to hospital for a medical examination.
On the instance when suspects were trying to take the child to a different location from the place where the child was, the eagle-eyed police officers detected their move and the suspects who were involved in the abduction as well as the motor bicycle used in their operations were taken into police custody.
It was the belief of the gang of suspects that the child's grandfather who was supposed to be a millionaire as well as the father who who was involved in a rice-trading business would pay the ransom even at the last moment. They had initially demanded a ransom of 1 million and subsequently brought it down to 35 lakhs while the suspects had informed the guardians of the child to give them the money on the sly, unaware to the police.
The child had in the beginning stages been kept inside a cave in Wathuwaththa area and later kept in a house in Meegalaewa. Later when the suspects had tried to transport the child to another location, they had been cordoned in this manner.
It was reported that during the time the child was detained inside the cave, he had been given noodles for the three meals daily. It was fortunate that the skillful and clever police officers were able to rescue the child without delay as a result of the clues secured from the telephone signals data relating to the dialogue when the suspects were engaged in asking for the ransom as well as the clues they managed to get from the areas where they were moving about.
After the suspects asked for a sum of Rs 1 million from the child's father and grandfather on kidnapping the child later brought the figure down to 35 lakhs subsequent to the relationships developed thereafter. They had been asked that a confirmation be provided to the effect that the child is in safety, on police instructions. As such, Dinindu's talisman which was grabbed from Dimindu's neck was placed by the side of a religious idol or statue in Ehetuwawa area which was used to prove that the child was safe. In the meantime when analysing the phone numbers of the suspects given to relatives of Dinindu, one of the telephone calls happened to be a call made by a female and the police were able to find her.
After it was revealed that she was the lover of a suspect, the CID were able to unravel information regarding the suspects.
Two of the kidnappers were from Atharagalla area while one person was from Meegalawewa and the other was from Nagarakulama area. All suspects have been taken into police custody.
A large crowd of people had come last night to the house where the child was living in Hunupolagama area in Meegalawewa. Though Dinindu was happy to see the parents and displayed a sense of happiness; showed a sense of fear. The child had told his grandfather when the latter had questioned him that he remembers that he faced no harassment and that he was fed and that he was inside a cave, the media was told.
The child's grandfather mentioned that those who were taken into custody be given maximum punishment and that germs of this type should be removed from society.
Police investigations to continue in the future.
