CID successful in rescuing kidnapped Dinindu child .... in Galgamuwa itself
The police reported last night (11) that the CID had found the 4 year old Dinindu Yashen Ekanayaka who was abducted in the presence of the parents from a house in Meegalawa, Galgamuwa which incident created a great sensation in the country last Monday.
The police who say that the child had been found in Ambogama area in Galgamuwa further reported that the suspects have been identified.
While those who kidnapped the child are being interrogated further, it has been revealed that a relative of the child's father too is among them and that the child had not been harassed.
A gang of 2 from Atharagalla area and Meegalawewa and 1 from Nagarakulama were among them. All suspects have been taken into police custody.
The child it is understood had been kept inside a cave after being abducted. He had been fed on noodles for all 3 meals of the day.
These kidnappers who had come on 2 motor cycles with helmets worn and faces covered to the house where the child was living in Hunupolagama area, Meegalagama had kidnapped the 4 year old son of this businessman.
The suspects had mentioned the name of the rice-trader after coming around 7.45 in the night that particular day and had said that they wanted to meet him and on coming out of the house to meet the businessman , the child for whom the mother had been feeding rice too had come behind the father when one person in the gang had abruptly jumped in front and after getting hold of the child had tried to flee towards the motor-bike. The businessman who then got startled had attempted to grab the child when a person in the gang had kept a sharp instrument at the throat of the businessman and wounded him threatening his life and had finally taken the child away. In the process, the 6 year old elder sister of the abducted child had wailed and pleaded, crying not to take her small brother away, clinging on to his body. The kidnappers had then inflicted cuts on the abdomen-region of the girl and had fled after pushing her aside.
A phone call had been given after fleeing on the motor-bike carrying the 4 year old child demanding 35 lakhs after a few days later. However, as the incident happened to create a sensation all over the country, the abductors had kept the child in hiding for fear, it is suspected.
Seven police teams including Meegalawewa Police conducted a search about the missing child; but from day-before-yesterday a special team from the CID had gone to Meegalawewa in the afternoon and commenced investigations, combing all over Meegalawewa area.
Subsequently, officers of the CID were able to find the kidnapped child from a location in the same area last night.
