3 year old child dies .... after eating biscuits given by anty of neighbouring house Daughter serious
What faith could one pin on the sanitary value of food given to small children from outside sources?
From Kandy it is reported of a case where a 3-year old child died a few days ago having eaten some biscuits given by an anty of a neighbouring house, most unexpectedly.
The victim is a 3-year old boy who died as a result of eating some biscuits given him by a 37 year old lady in a nearby house in Gomare area, Panwila, Kandy with a poisonous element being absorbed into the body. The elder sister of the deceased child too became seriously ill after this incident and is under treatment having been admitted to hospital.
What the mother of the deceased boy said was that the mother of the neighbouring house has given a type of biscuit to the boy and girl and after eating them, the two children had fallen sick after drinking a glass of water.
She also said that after 3 or 4 minutes after drinking the water the 3 year old child's body drooped to a side and when admitted to hospital though tried everything possible to save the life of the child, it was in vain. She further said that the elder daughter too became seriously ill because of poisoning and that later she also having been admitted to hospital is transferred to Kandy Hospital.
The police have commenced a wide investigation on the incident.
While it is understood that the children of that neighbouring houseowner also was at that time playing with these children and though it is said that those children too were given those biscuits, it is not reported that her children have suffered any sickness.
Now a suspicion has arisen whether some poison has been introduced to the biscuits given to the children who became sick. The police therefore are conducting inquiries in order to ascertain whether the lady concerned has on purpose given these biscuits to these children in the neighbouring house with an ulterior motive. The police also said that investigations are underway to take the said lady into custody.
