The News Division of the National Rupavahini yesterday had subjected the incident of Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasingha participating as an invitee at the farewell party of the A/L Sinhala class of popular lecturer of the tuition class Upul Shantha Sannasgala day-before-yesterday, to serious criticism.
A person who appeared there in the form of a tuition master expressed his opinion saying that parents spend extra money and send children for tuition classes so that time could be productively used and that the parents give tuition fees from their hard-earned money not for doing things like this.
A person who apparently gave the looks of a student who spoke in the background of a small tuition-class said that it was not the duty of a teacher to discuss Politics inside a classroom. In the process, the National Rupavahini camera which turned towards a father while on the way where the latter said that children go to classes to study and not to do Politics.
The Rupavahini broadcast which spoke in this manner finished off by bringing up a political controversy recalling to memory the story of 'bracelets' and 'chewing gum' of which Ranil had spoken about on an earlier occasion.
