Ranil visits 'Ape Sinhala Panthiya' at Nugegoda

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasingha had been to the farewell party last week of 'Ape Sinhala Panthiya' located at Rotary Institute in Nugegoda of popular tuition master Upul Shantha Sannasgala.


After the final lecture held for boys and girls sitting for the forthcoming A/L examinations, when a farewell party had been organised on that occasion, an announcement and introduction was made thus: "To greet all of you .... at this moment a special invitee is present here .... and that is Oppositoin Leader Ranil Wickramasingha!".
Just at that moment Ranil Wickramasingha entered the classroom and he was warmly greeted by the A/L students. Some of them offered the autograph books in their hands with the idea of securing autographs from him while some others came forward with green ribbons tied on their arms with the purpose of tying them on Ranil's hand.
Upul Shantha Sannasgala who conducts the 'Ape Sinhala Panthiya' which has carved a name as a class which has one of the largest number of students participating is well-known as a lyricist and as a creator in the field of cinema.
He was nominated at the last Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council elections as a candidate for Chief Minister by the United National Party. However, for some reason he backed out from it.
