Nayana Kumari Train goes to parliament

"I of course get into Nayana Kumari Train and go ...."  -- Minister Welgama in parliament
A rumour spread around in the past coining a tele-actress with Transport Minister. What the Minister subsequently said was that a train has not been named as Nayana Kumari.



This topic once more raised its head in parliament yesterday. It was because of a joke of UNP m.p. Ajith P. Perera who aimed it at the Minister. What he said is as follows: "When a train was derailed a few days ago ... I looked to to see whether the train that was derailed was the Nayana Kumari train which came from Galle to Colombo .... but I found that it was not Nayana Kumari that had been derailed".

Minister Welgama who responded to this as if by anger said, "When I get into the Nayana Kumari Train .... you don't be jealous. You find a kumari!"
