The white cobra supposed to have been stolen from Dehiwala Zoo has been found brought back and kept near the gate of the zoo early morning on Thursday (17) by some unknown person. It has however not  been found as to who had brought back this white cobra in a box and left it near the gate.

Investigations about the disappearance over the white cobra yesterday which created a sensation had been begun by the police. It is suspected that the person who stole the cobra had brought back the reptile for fear of being exposed at the investigations.

This albino type cobra was not meant for exhibition purposes and was kept in a safe location under lock and key as an extra specimen.

While the place where the white cobra was, had been separated,  and on the other side there had been a python; there was evidence to say that the lock had been removed and closed at the place where the said cobra was.

As it was suspicious that somebody had stolen this cobra, the Animal Breeder there had complained to the police.

The workers had seen the cobra for the last time on 11th evening at 3 o'clock and it was revealed at the investigations that it had disappeared on 14th evening at 4.15 p.m.

It was said that it certainly was a difficult task to steal this white cobra as it was under the strict supervision of the security personnel.
