The Ran Veta (gold fence) which was erected with the contribution of philanthropists was declared opened today (Mar 16) at Sri Pada Maluwa.
The newly erected Ran Veta is 5.5 ft in height while gold plated pillars have been constructed around Sri Pada Maluwa. With the erection of this Ran Veta,
the Sri Pada now stands out in majesty. It is reported that during the past 03 months, 20 lakhs of devotees have visited Sri Pada to pay their homage.
A large number of devotees have been present today to pay homage to Sri Pada because of Full Moon Poya day. They have been arriving via the Hatton route and the Ratnapura Palabaddala route. A number of pinkamas were held this morning under the patronage of Chief Incumbent of Sripadasthanaya, Ven. Bengamuwe Dhamma Dinna Thero.
It is also reported that a day and night dansela would be held for a continuous period of 6 months on behalf of the devotees who would be coming from the beginning of next year where a new structure would be constructed in Mahagiridamba.
