Journalist Mel Gunasekera murdered

Journalist murdered .....
in a Battaramulla house

Miss Mel Gunasekera who was a competent Journalist engaged in the field of Business reporting was found dead in her house on Sunday (Feb 2) morning.
She had lived with her parents in this house. It is reported that she had not gone on this particular day to attend  the Sunday service in church and stayed alone at home while her parents had gone to attend the service.
Her corpse was found lying in the kitchen of her two-storeyed house at Gemunu Mawatha along Udumulla Road, Battaramulla early on Sunday morning.  Police had found that she had been murdered with a sharp instrument similar to a knife and confirmed that it was a case of murder.

Mel Gunasekera who has had an experience in media coverage for about 15 years had also served at AFP News Service and the Sunday Times newspaper. She had been serving the Fich Rating business firm at the time. It is still not revealed as to on which grounds she had been murdered.
