What does Lasith Malinga say?
I don't want Sri Lanka ... what I want is money!
A problem has occured regarding the lack of outstanding players for the forthcoming Sri Lankan tour of Bangladesh. The team would be leaving to Bangladesh today (Jan 24) and in order to find a solution to the aforementioned problem, the Cricket Board has made an urgent appeal last week to Lasith Malinga and Ajantha Mendis who are presently participating in the Bangladesh tournament held in the BigBash tournament held in Australia with the
motive of earning money on a private basis to come back to the island immediately.
According to that request, though Ajantha Mendis had returned home by yesterday , Manager of the Sri Lankan team, Mr. Michael de Soysa said that upto now Lasith Malinga, Ajantha Mendis and T.M. Dilshan of Sri Lanka have participated in the BigBash tournament. Sometime before this, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board said that Lasith Malinga and Ajantha Mendis would be called back with future games in mind. Though well aware of such a decision, it appears that Lasith Malinga has on purpose considered earning money for himself and taken a decision to that effect than representing Sri Lanka. Though he had the opportunity of returning to to the island together with Ajantha Mendis, Sri Lankan team Manager Mr. Michael de Soysa mentioned that failing to make a decision of coming back is indeed pathetic.
The Sri Lankan team is expected to leave the shores today to leave the shores today to compete in the forthcoming Bangladesh tour.
