Horse bites cop's leg at Botale Walauwwa

Horse at D.S. Walauwwa .... bites cop's leg

An incident is reported of a police officer who had been admitted to Mirigama hospital after having been bitten by a horse at Botale Walauwwa belonging to former prime minister when he went there to investigate a robbery which took place there sometime ago.

What a police officer from Mirigama police said was that the victim, a sergeant who had been to the Walauwwa and happened to be somewhere close to the portico when a horse had come running towards him had suddenly bit his leg and had run away soon after. The sergeant had then begun to bleed and the other officers had promptly come to his assistance and taken him to hospital for treatment.

It is reported that at the time this incident took place, 4 horses had freely been walking around the compound. Hospital sources said that there were 4 teeth marks on the police officer's leg.
The police suspect that this incident may have occured because there were no dogs in the Walauwwa the horses that were straying around the garden freely could have become confused and as a result the biting incident has taken place.

After the police officer was admitted to hospital, steps were taken to vaccinate him against hydrophobia.

Police officers concerned are conducting inquiries over the incident where someone had gained access to Botale Walauwwa and had removed a weapon together with some ammunition by opening the almirah.
