On the day of the incident the said infant, Ronan Gorge Joseph a 4 month old had been lying in the cot while the mother had been in the kitchen in the process of which the elder sister of the infant who was 3 years old had broken a piece from a thosai brought for breakfast and had poked it into the mouth of the infant who was in the hall.
The mother who was not aware of what had happened in the meantime, on coming to the hall had noticed the infant struggling with difficulty and realised that something was in the mouth at which moment the daughter had admitted that she had fed malli with a piece of thosai thinking that he was hungry.
Though members of the house had an effort to remove the pieces of thosai from inside the mouth of the infant immediately, some pieces of it by then had already sunk down the throat and had got stuck. As a result the child had been shouting and struggling with difficulty.
The mother of the children said that though the infant was held by the feet and slapped on the back, in the end he had been struggling, finding it difficult to breath.
