New milk powder issue in supermarkets

No Highland ... no Maliban
Have supermarkets hidden milk powder?

On information received that there is a shortage of milk powder in the market, Ministry of Co-operative and Consumer Affairs has begun a survey on this information. According to complaints made by customers, that milk powder which they wish to purchase are not available for sale at most distinguished supermarkets in the island. Because of this situation, customers have had no other option than to go for other brands of milk powder as an alternative.

Informed sources say that as a result of the DCD issue which came up in the past, stocks of Fonterra (Anchor band Raththi) were left unsold and they are  the only ones that are stacked on the shelves of many supermarkets to avoid the validity period expiring and to dispose of them while other brands of milk powder stocks have been temporarily stopped. As such, apparently this situation is something that has been created on purpose.

On complaints made about the shortage of milk powder in the market made from Milco by the Ministry about the production of the milk powder Highland, they had replied that they had made no reduction in their production

According to the inquiries of the Ministry, relevant officers have been advised to check stores where milk powder is stocked and to take necessary action.
