I will start my Colombo project -- James Packer

Packer turns his back to media ... and scoots away
Publicly announces opening of casino near Beira lake

Australian businessman James Packer who is attempting to introduce a casino complex to Sri Lanka presented a speech at the Commonwealth Business Conference yesterday. During the speech he mentioned that Sri Lanka is a wonderful hub for tourist activity and investment.

Though the government has expressed that the Act in relation to casino has been stopped, what Packer said with a smile on his face addressing the audience was that he would be starting a business zone in the vicinity of the Beira lake in Colombo.

After his speech, he was coming out from the hall of the Cinnamon Grand Hotel towards the elevator when several mediamen were trailing behind him to pose questions to him regarding the Crown Investment gambling project; but as a response Packer had turned his back to the media   until the lift arrived as if there were no one surrounding him, trying to avoid them. Later, when the lift arrived, he had scooted from the place with another smile.
