Susara Marikkar and Rangana to contest Western Province elections

Once the Commonwealth Leaders' Summit which is to be held in Sri Lanka will be over, the next political event which would be the cynosure of all eyes would be the elections of the Western Provincial Council. Rumours are observed spreading from various corners about this even now. There is information that having felt  the heat of Dayasiri winning the PC election, some members of parliament had resigned from the parliament and are preparing for vieing  for the provincial council.

     it is reported to Gossiplanka that 3 popular characters connected to the media too are to contest the forthcoming elections. One of them is Susara Dinal, Chief of Sirasa TV channels. He is to contest the WP elections on behalf of the UNP. Meanwhile, former Chief of Sirasa FM , S.M. Marikkar too is reported to be contesting this election under the UNP ticket.  It is reported that Rangana Silva of Hiru channel would be contesting this  time from the UNP.

     Whatever it is, on inquiring from Rangana about this subject, what he  says is that this rumour is baseless and that he still thinks that a media person should be independent.
