If somebody tries to bring about a separate State ... having been overjoyed with election results ... his head may be detached from the body
Army commander Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayaka yesterday mentioned in Vavuniya that anybody can live happily politicalwise or in any manner he or she pleases if living within the democratic framework ... but if one tries to become an extremist, it is not the country ... but his or her head that may be severed from the body in such circumstances.
He reminisced how it was displayed to the whole world the answer such people received in the past and that the whole world is aware of what happened to Prabhakaran who tried to divide the country.
Though the LTTE was physically defeated by the defence forces, the Army Commander pointed out that those carried out underhand activities and those who functioned in the Intelligence Services are operating seeking a separatist State within the country as well as without.
He further said that if anyone comes forward as a party or group ... having been overjoyed by the election results of the North ... looking forward to a separatist State ... severe action will be taken in such cases.
The Army Commander also said that if any group of people ... having been overjoyed by the election results thinking that they have achieved a separate State ... and are trying to act in act in a foolish manner by trying to influence the army, punishment would have to be meted out and action would have to be taken in that respect.
