World Happiness Report 2013

Sri Lanka in 20th position ....
 among countries that have the most unhappy citizens


     According to the latest survey report issued by the United Nations Resolute Development Project last week, Sri Lanka has been the 137th from among 156 countries of people who are living happily. As such, from among countries that live most unhappily, Sri Lanka has assumed 20th poition. According to this survey, Denmark, Norway and Switzerland are in the lead as being the happiest people while inhabitants of Togo Benin and Central Africa are the unhappiest. Another special feature of this report is that Sri Lanka has become the last among the happy countries in South Asia.

    The World Happiness Report is a report that is based on scientific data and is revealed by UNO every few years for the study of world development activities.

    In this case the countries listed according to the crucial data obtained in relation to approximate national production, social support, healthy life expectancy at birth, freedom to make selections in life, percentage of positive attitude and unemployment. The above factors are taken into account in assessing the final value. According to this research, the zones that spend lives most happily are North America, Western Europe and Latin America Caribbean zones. Those that belong to the least happy zones are the sub-Sahara zone, South Asia and the Middle East North African zone.

   In the Happy list, Australia is placed in the 10th position, America as 17th and Britain as the 22nd position while India is placed in the 111th position.
