Why Dayasiri said 'no' to teledramas

    The theme song for the teledrama 'Muthu palasa' which is being broadcast these days is sung by Dayasiri Jayasekera, nominee for North-West Provincial Council elections. He displays skill in politics and singing and there is a rumour that he is to embark on acting. Dayasiri commented on this matter last week in the following manner:

"I sang a duet with Gayani Madusha some months ago. Because of my busy schedule, there was a delay in the visual composition. It can be seen shortly. Though I sing once in a way, I have no desire in becoming a singer. I got a lot of invitations to act also ... among those were many teledrama films ... but I rejected all those.

   There are so many who perform very charming roles in the world of Art and finally step into politics and play an entirely different role. I can't be one of them.

   I am not someone who came into politics after becoming popular as an actor or singer .... I came on this journey as a politician. I will go forward in that same manner ..."
