SANATH GUNATILLAKA'S NEW CHANGE

Sanath Gunatillaka's mobile continuously switched off ....
to see he has actually entered monkhood

    Distinguished film actor Sanath Gunatilleka had kept his mobile phone continuously switched off. Several artistes have been anxious to know why he was avoiding speaking over the phone .... to see, information received was that he had entered the Sangha Sasanaya. Did Sanath who lived a bachelor-life take this action because he was depressed with life? Or is it for some other reason? When inquiries were made further about this situation, it was revealed that it was limited only for a short period of time and that it was all done with the objective of training to portray a role of a monk in a film for which he is to act in future.
   Sanath Gunatilleka who entered monkhood last Thursday at Bentara Sapugoda Shri Maha Vihara under the name Hanguranketha Wimalarathana, it is reported, has entered the Vihara for the purpose of meditation.

   It is also reported that during the period of priesthood he would be spending his time with his mobile phone switched off, avoiding calls from actors and actresses.

  It was further reported that Wimalarathana Thero would spend his time involved in following all Buddhist rites during a period of one week, leading an ascetic life on a temporary basis after which he is to finish his ascetic period on a religious note on 29th Thursday of August.

  During this ascetic period he had decided to avoid expressing his ideas in the presence of the media. However, it was reported that he hoped to face the media after the said period and talk about the film.

 On questioning Mr.Sanath Gunatilleka prior to entering monkhood, what he mentioned was that he had so entered the life of an ascetic because he was keen on understanding the true life of a monk who practises the rites concerned and also to gain pre-experience about the true nature of a monk's character in a film to be shot in future.
