Duleep Sir dies in Highway crash .... with sister
Because of the southern highway fatal crash that occurred yesterday, 36 year old popular tuition master Duleep Gunasekera of Matara and his 28 year year old Nadeeka succumbed to their injuries. At the moment of the accident Duleep's father and his sister together with her husband too had been in the Alto car which was driven by a driver.
It was revealed that the vehicle which was travelling from Matara to Colombo last afternoon had collided with the protected railing beside the road close to 51st milepost in the area of Welipenna with a driving speed of 140 mph. The vehicle on collision had overturned and was almost beyond recognition.
It was said that until such time as the tuition sir got used to driving the vehicle he had engaged the services of a driver. They had left yesterday to Colombo in order to attend to a channelling of a doctor for the father's sickness. Duleep and his sister had died on the spot after the accident. Duleep's father, the driver and the brother-in-law had sustained injuries have been hospitalised. The driver and Duleep's father are being treated at the ICU of Nagoda hospital, Nagoda.
The vehicle which had been travelling at a terrific speed had gone beyond control and had collided with the railing and overturned and was beyond recognition in such a manner that the dead bodies were extricated from the front side of the vehicle with great difficulty.
Duleep who died in the accident was a popular Biology tuition master. He was also an external lecturer of the university and was preparing for his doctorate. His sister too who had faced this unfortunate fate was married not long.
