COFFIN DUMPED ON KANDY ROAD

Corpse and coffin on Kandy Road 

    A commotion among inhabitants in Kandy town was seen yesterday because of a corpse that was found lying on the middle of the road. This happened because of a fault of the driver of the hearse.

   A prepared coffin and the dead body within it which were being transported to a funeral house in Katugastota area from a florist in Kandy, has for some reason got thrown out and had been thrown on to the road while the driver had kept on driving the vehicle unaware of the incident. The said incident had taken place around 12.15 in the afternoon. People in the town had rocked together and were watching this spectacle wondering what had happened.

   It was reported that initially the coffin had tilted and then the corpse had got thrown out while the coffin was found lying about a distance of 400 metres beyond, near the pavement along Dalada Veediya. After the crowd gathered, police had taken steps to transport the coffin and the dead body once more in the hearse.

  This accident has happened because the hearse was driven by the driver negligibly without the aid of an assistant. The said hearse had been a vehicle which was used for VIP orders and there was a coffin bought for a higher price.
