Argued for conducting Agency ........strangled with brassier-strap woman accepts guilt on murder of businessman inside vehicle
A woman supposed to have had an illicit affair with the businessman murdered inside a motor vehicle in Sri Maha Bodhi Road in Panadura accepted guilt to the crime and surrendered to Panadura courts yesterday with a lawyer.
The manner in which she committed the murder was explained by her later.
A 40 year old businessman, Indrajith Pradeep Devanayarana who lived in Wijerama Road, Gangodawila, Nugegoda was murdered towards dawn of July 1st and was a married person. The suspect had said that the victim had for sometime lived in Italy and France and that he had carried on the illicit affair in Panadura area. The suspect had also revealed that he had loaned money on interest to various people and also conducted a foreign employment agency. Because she disliked these activities there had been disputes between the two of them on a number of occasions. She had told her lawyer that she was a divorced and the divorce case was pending at Panadura courts.
She had mentioned that on the day of the incident she had been travelling with the victim and that he was under liquor on that occasion when an exchange of words had taken place between the two inside the vehicle which ultimately ended up with she strangling him with the brassier-strap. The brassier which she is supposed to have used in this connection was brought yesterday, police said.
Panadura South police say 39 year old Sanjeewani Devika, a mother of one child from Alubomulla, Panadura surrendered herself with the aid of a lawyer, Mr.L.P. Weerakkody. The police say that they recorded statements of the suspect's mother, inclusive of 6 others in the family in connection with this murder.
The suspect after being produced before Mr.Ruchira Weliwatta, Magistrate of Panadura was remanded till 15th July.
Panadura South police are conducting further investigations.
