FUEL SURCHARGE REDUCED BY 25%

How electricity bill reduces
Because of suggestion of President

On May Day, after the President subjected the amendments of the increased electricity bill, it was taken for discussion yesterday and it was decided not to make any increase on 60 units and to deduct 25% on the fuel surcharge though a new rate was introduced from 61 - 180 units.

Accordingly, the total fuel surcharge which was 40% so far for those who had consumed 61 - 180 units will be brought down upto 30%. According to the new amendments electricity units have been extended from 60 - 90 units. Units 90 - 96 have been extended from 60 - 90. The 120 unit limit too has been extended upto 126 units. As such, in the case of electricity consumers who use upto 126 units, the tarrif would be calculated under the Rs.15 scheme charged for rates levied upto 120 units.
However, according to this new amendment, there would be no change in the case of those consuming over 180 units and will have to pay according to the new rates.
It was mentioned that these new proposals will come into effect from April 20th after receiving approval from the Public Utilities Commission after it will be presented to them by the Electricity Board.
