EX-BOY FRIEND POISONS GIRL FRIEND AND COMMITS SUICIDE

Ex-lover and medical student poisons fiancee
then commits suicide with injection

     After a conflict that went too far between between two lovers; a female student of Moratuwa University and a male student of Ragama Medical Faculty the latter had given poison to the other, as reported. As a result both students have died.

     The boy had separated himself from the girl because of a third party intruding into their affair. This ex-boy friend had however been creating problems for her, and because of the conflict that issued in the affair in the past few days, it was reported that the girl had then taken an excessive quantity of sleeping tablets and subsequently residents in the neighbourhood had taken steps to admit the girl to Peradeniya Hospital in an unconscious state. After recovering from her condition, the ex-lover medical student had visited her and had given her the poison while she was still on sick-bed.

     She had been admitted to hospital on the 20th and though she was discharged from hospital on 22nd, she had gone back to admit herself in the hospital because members of her household had not visited her. On the day in question her ex-lover had visited her around 5 in the evening on a request made to come and visit her to inquire about her health and had later left. However, he had once more returned at 8 in the night bringing a packet of milk and a packet of gram.

     After he had left those in the ward have observed her drinking the packet of milk. Immediately after drinking the milk it was reported from hospital quarters that she had begun to tremble and shiver and had then become serious. Though doctors have come to her rescue it was to no avail. Having drunk a packet of milk containing a highly potent type of poison she had passed away within the space of a few hours.

     In the process the medical student lover had gone to his house in Polgahawela and injected himself that same night. That too had been the same poison. As a result he had become serious in the house itself and his mother who happened to be a doctor herself though admitting him to Kurunegala Hospital had passed away in a few hours.

     The two deceased were a female student of Moratuwa University aged 24 years, Maheshika Priyangani Kularatna and Amala Chaturanga of 25 years, a student  of the Ragama Medical Faculty.

     Further investigations are carried out about the incident.
