MOTHER ELEPHANT’S UNFORTUNATE DEATH AT TRINCO

The Female Elephant Who Came to The Sacred Area With Injuries Caused To The Mouth By "Hakka Pattas' Dies After Delivering The Baby Elephant

The human beings definitely possess a much matured mind than animals however an inhuman act of a group of human beings had led to an elephant on the verge of delivering a baby elephant to suffer while been cruelly made to die with injuries caused via ‘Hakka Pattas’ flesh Veddhas giving the Elephant an enormous amount of pain and agony. The incident had occurred last Saturday in the Trincomalee jungle area.
It had occurred through the ‘Hakka Pattas’ injuries by those seeking animal flesh. The saddest part of this pathetic story is that this mother elephant had come in search of safe pace for delivering a baby elephantafter ben injured through ‘Hakka Pattas’. The story culminated with the mother elephant leaving the world leaving the newly born baby elephant in the lurch.
A number of elephants in this area had been the victims of this flesh seeking ‘Flesh Veddhas. These ‘Hakka Pattas flesh seekers  loitering in the Trincomalee areas had earlier accounted for many more Elephants while targeting wild pigs for wild boar by making the ‘Hakka Pattas’ to burst
This pregnant elephant had come on the 6th afternoon to the Welgama Viharaya sacred area. As it was a scene that the villages had not seen before the villages had got frightened. However the expectant mother elephant had gone behind the Welgama army camp Premises to the Welgama Viharaya area
Those who saw the expecting mother elephant particularly the army personnel and the villages were looking on patiently and with interest.They observed that this mother elephant had been in some discomfort as already a “Hakka Pattas had injured the mouth of the elephant severely.
The elephant who had delivered the baby elephant had gone a distance of nearly 50 metres. The baby was very unfortunate to have not been able to see the mother elephant. Because of this unfortunate incident the baby elephant had not been able to drink a drop of milk from the mother The elephant It is learnt that this mother elephant may have come to the sacred temple area sensing that there would be some sincere people who would understand the plight that the animal had been without any food for a number of days would get some redress.
The baby elephant after delivery had tried to stand up but owing to weakness had failed in the attempt to stand on the feet. The baby elephant had made noises as sounds of crying .in sheer helplessness. But had been trying to locate the mother. The wild life authorities had come and fed the baby elephant with milk. The baby elephant had known that the milk was not that of the mother had made cries which had made the onlookers to get shocked and grieved.
He wild life authorities had taken away the baby elephant in a cab and while seen this mother elephant had cried screaming. The elephant was without consuming any food owing to the injuries caused to the mouth. This mother elephant had become weaker and weaker without any food who bid goodbye to the world on the 9th cursing the people who were responsible for hurting and injuring through the mouth through the ‘Hakka Pattas’ trap.
The wild life authorities added that the wounds that occurred to the mother elephant cannot be cured. The people should take this as a good example to apprehend the ‘flesh Veddhas” and they should be given the highest punishment. The time has now come to commence this exercise.
