SHOCK OVER EXECUTION OF RIZANA NAFEEK

Rizana had learnt many languages while she had been in jail She hasn’t known that the appeal had got rejected until she was executed.
Dr. Kiyafa Ifthikar who has looked after Rizana had told Rizana’s father who had been ill only last night that Rizana had been executed.

Rizana Nafeek is a child of parents whose living had relied on cutting wood in Muttur, in Trincomalee district. She has only a brother. She has been sent to Saudi Arabia for a job while she has been only 17 years old because of their poverty. Her age has been forged by the foreign job agency people along with fake doScuments
She has got a job of a housemaid of looking after a baby and since she lacks experience, she has failed to do her job properly. She has finally been fated to pay off from her life for the unfortunate death she has caused the baby just four months old due to her ignorance. Rizana has been living in a prison from the age of 17 years up to 25 years.
During her stay in the prison, a Sri Lankan dentist named Kiyafa Ifthikar has visited her in several occasions. She is from Katugastota who lives in Saudi Arabia with her husband while working as a dentist. It was reported that she has travelled over 400km to visit Rizana and she has always carried her mobile to give Rizana the opportunity to speak to her parents. Rizana has spoken to her parents for the last time in December 2012. Yesterday the dentist has got to know that Rizana has been given death penalty when she has gone to the prison to visit Rizana.
Dr. Kifana has not known that such an incident would take place. She has got a shock to hear the news and at that time, she had got a call to Rizana’s mother. Her mother has asked “Did you meet my daughter and can you give the phone to her?”
Dr. Kiyafa has not wanted to tell the news of her death at once and thus she has lied to Rizana’s mother saying: “The vehicle is broken and I couldn’t go still.”
Sharya law has already given her death penalty to Rizana by that time. Dr. Kifaya stated that:
All who come here should agree to the law of Sharya when they get their visa. This law cannot be changed. Even the King cannot change this law. That is how things are here. What can we do? Rizana was like one of my own children. I have visited her often. She was happy here. She played games and prayed every day. She was with women from other countries. During her stay here, she has learnt many languages. Every time, I visited her, her only question was on when she will be released. She was alive so far due to the protests organized by the Asian international organizations. Yet, ultimately, the law was implemented. In the appeal, it was decided that she will be given death penalty. I didn’t tell that to her and she didn’t know about it until the end.
The news of her death was informed to her parents, after Sri Lanka was officially informed about it. Since, her father was sick, he was not told. This news has reached her innocent mother. She had cried out loud saying “Every one cheated us…. And nobody saved my child. What else could be done? My innocent child was killed.
It was reported that her father was not told since he was sick until last night. It was also reported that her dead body will be buried in that country according to Sharya law since the dead body of a person who has gone through such a punishment is not be sent to his/her mother land. Accordingly, she will be buried in Saudi Arabia itself.
There are many other topics which have popped out after the death of Rizana. One is as to why men and women are sent to a country for work in such a country where democracy has no rule.
Second, as to why the government doesn’t take actions against fraudulent foreign  agency companies who make victims of innocent people based only on monitory benefits.
It also points out the fact that the housemaids or the workers who are sent to Middle East countries should be given proper training on their prospective jobs.
