The suspect is a resident of kotikawatta by name is Sumithra Swarna Rathnayake is a Tele drama actress who had portrayed roles in a number of Tele dramas like ‘Vasuda’, ‘Viduru Mal’,’Sayura Thera’, ’Nim Thera’,’Isura Soya’ and also had portrayed roles in films ‘Theeratha Yathra’ and ‘Esala Sanda’.
When she had come to this state bank with a fake gold necklace for pawning, the pawning staff has had suspicion and informed the Police who had arrested her before producing to courts. She has had in her possession fake identity cards with her photograph. It had been revealed that she is a member of a gang indulged in this business.
In the month July she was nabbed by the Police on a tip off in Menaka hotel at kaduwela engaged in prostitution, where her charge was a sum of Rs 5000/- For proving her innocence she called for a press conference and informed the media that she was trapped by an enemy of hers.
For this offence she had been ordered to be remanded and is to be produced before the Minuwangoda courts on the 16th of this month.
