India out of ICC World 2012 T 20 Semi’s:
Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Australia and West Indies are in the semi finals:
It was only yesterday (the 2nd) with the results of the two crucial matches among the teams in Group 2, Super Eights, the ultimate Semi Finalists were determined.
After the completion of the two matches played yesterday the two semi finalists in Super Eights, group 2 were determined. The four teams played their final matches yesterday. Although India beat South Africa by just run they were eliminated. If they were to become a semi finalist they had to restrict the South Africa to a total of 121 runs or less, which they failed to do. Their win by one run after scoring 152 runs was all in vain. In terms of run rate India and South Africa were behind Australia and West Indies. In yesterdays match Australia lost to Pakistan. India and Pakistan and Australia were equal in the points table. But according to the run rate India had to be eliminated. If India beat South Africa by a larger margin they would have won a birth in the Semi’s.
After completion of all the matches in the group 2 in Super Eights, Sri Lanka, Australia, West Indies and Pakistan qualified to play in the semi finals. The first semi final will be between Sri Lanka and Pakistan on the 4th October while the second semi final between Australia and the West Indies is scheduled to be played on the 5th October, both at the Kettarama International Cricket Stadium.
