The 700 supporters who came with Vaiko to protest have been taken into custody:
Today morning President Mahinda Rajapaksa who is on a tour of India was to visit to ‘Santhi’ area. There about 700 protestors under the M.D.M.K party leader Vaiko had protested waving flags. Their protest was to make the Indian authorities to make a plea to probe into war crimes made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa during the time of the ethnic war.
The massive protest was held in the India’s central area called “Chindawar”. The Indian Police was able to arrest the 700 protestors who were protesting with the M.D.M.k party leader VAIKO. The President had gone there to lay the foundation stone to construct a Buddhist University ceremony, which had been held on schedule very peacefully, despite the protest by the demonstrators.
