A diamond theft at BMICH exhibition:

No ,No....I never swallowed a diamond confesses the Chinese. But it had been proved via security cameras:

A group of Chinese nationals had visited the diamond exhibition at the BMICH having had plans to rob diamonds. Whilst they were inspecting the diamonds one Chinese national had swallowed a diamond which was later revealed to value Rs 18 lakhs. Luckily those staff working in the exhibition had seen this incident. When complained to the Police he was arrested then and there. The others who came with him numbering to about seven had fled from the BMICH premises.
The incident had occurred yesterday around 9.45 a.m. The Police is on the lookout for the rest who had vanished.
This International exhibition had started on the 4th of this month. It is one that is patronised by local and foreign buyers, by the Gem and Jewellery Authority. The incident of swallowing the diamond had been very luckily seen by the workers of the exhibition. When he was questioned he had totally denied. However when he was handed over to the Police this was proved via security cameras. The Chinese National was taken to the National General Hospital from where the swallowed diamond was recovered.
As the rest of this gang had vanished, the Police had made complaints to the Bandaranaike Airport authorities to be cautious about them leaving the country. It is learnt that all of them had stayed in a hotel at Bambalapitiya and it is learnt that they are a group who are in a field, indulging in stealing of diamonds.
The accused Chinese National has had in his possession some imitation and very cheap diamonds and his intention had been to exchange them for more expensive diamonds.
