BLOODSEHED AT SLPL

A South African batsman had collapsed at his crease after been hit on his nose through the visor of his helmet by a Malinga's bouncer:

During a SLPL cricket match played between the Ruhunu Royals and Basnahira Cricket Dundee at the R.Premadasa stadium last Saturday when the former team was batting. The South African left handed batsman Rilee Rossaw who batting confidently on an unbeaten 31 had to face two bouncers from ‘slinger’ Malinga, the deadly paceman. He evaded them by ducking while the third was directed at his face. As he failed to connect by hooking the ball sent at over 140 KPH went through the visor of his helmet and hit his nose area. The batsman was felled by the shock and he started bleeding from his nose area.

He was taken off from the playing area and was taken to hospital for treatment and for x-rays. Apparently his condition was made known to be stable and he took no further part in the match. The Basnahira CD could amass only 123 runs which were easily surpassed by the Ruhunu Royals preventing the Basnahira CD in entering the semi- finals.
