MERVIN SILVA NOMINATED AS THE NEXT EDUACTION MINISTER!

Mervin as the next Education Minister
- President proposes

During a meeting held with the Ministers of the government, the President had made a wonderful proposal. That was to give the Ministry of Education under Mervin Silva since there have been numerous problems in the education system.
As it is reported the story is as follow:
There had been a discussion among the Ministers regarding the admissions to schools. The parliamentarian, Jayaratne Herath had started the discussion:
“Sir… a Minister or a parliamentarian cannot get involved in admitting a child to a new school. What is the status of a public agent when we don’t have power for a simple thing like this?”
At that moment the President has spoken:
“Why don’t you all tell these to Bandula?”
“It is pointless telling him as he doesn’t care for Ministers at all.”
At this moment, the Minister Bandula had stated that he has appointed a new Secretary in charge of the problems of the Ministers and that they should contact him.
In answer to that the Minister Nilwala Wijesinghe had stated that:
“Sir, I have two children… Those two were not given schools. I have told him several times but he didn’t care at all.”
The President had asked the grades in which those two students are studying:
“One is in grade 5 and the other in grade 6.”
Then Bandula Gunawardhane had told that both cannot be done.
“It is true that grade 6 is impossible, but why can’t you help with the one in grade 5? Just do him that favour Bandula. What are the schools that he is looking for?” The President has told Bandula Gunawardane.
“I applied for Vishaka”
In reply, Bandula Gunawardhane had told: “Let’s try Sirimawo and not Vishaka.”
“That’s not right; if he is asking for Vishaka, let him have that. They are public agents. No one will accept them as public agents if they can’t send their children to the schools they like. Even their wives won’t respect them.”
When the conversation was over, everyone was talking about the plight Bandula is facing as everyone scolds him. At that time, Mervin Silva got up from his seat and started to speak.
“Minister Bandula works in good faith but is scolded by everyone. There are some who are not being scolded at all. What I am saying is to appoint a new Minister for that position and will see what will happen.” Everyone has started laughing at this suggestion.
At that time, the President has proposed:
“In that case the best one would be Mervin. Why don’t you be the portfolio as Minister of Education and see for yourself?”
In reply, Mervin Silva had stated that: “Are you trying to trap me in that snare this time? It would be like throwing the iron bars out when it is lighting outside. I won’t ever be caught into that trap.”
The President at that moment of time would have cracked a joke with him.
