I TOOK ANARKALI BEFORE DUMINDA
Ranjan speaks:

During the last week’s rumours about the bachelor actor of the Sri Lankan cinema, Ranjan Ramanayake was spread all over the county.
Even though many people were able to interpret it in different ways, nobody had a clue of a correct answer to it. He had made a statement that he likes to get married to Anarkali which had created a lot of rumours in the field and at the same time it was doubted whether they will really get married.
Published below is an extract from an interview given by Ranjan Ramanayake to ‘Rivira’ newspaper.

You have become a news creator and most of the rumours are connected with female artists in your field.

“That is not something I do intentionally. Most of what has been published are not what I have told… there’s nothing much to think about them. That happens everywhere in Bollywood, Hollywood and Kollywood.”

Do you like the popularity you are receiving out of those?

“Rumours are being created as people think about me and not because I want that way. However, I have been the most popular actor over the past years.”

There was a rumour saying that you would like to marry Anarakali since Duminda is not in Sri Lanka. Is that true?

“I got to know Anarakali before Duminda did. I have worked with Anarkali five years before Duminda even knew her. Why should I take Anarakali saying that Duminda is not here? That was just a rumour… I have also heard that Anarakali would never get married.”

There was a rumour about Chathurika and you and it was proved by some of the photographs of you two taken together.

“Both of us worked together for a music video. Those photos were taken at that location.”

There were rumours on the internet saying that Chathurika is delaying her marriage because of you.

“No, no… they will be married soon. Roshan is a good friend of mine. I never came in between them.”

Why aren’t you marrying?

“I like to be independent. I still don’t have a home.”

Aren’t you capable of building a house?

“Not that I can’t but I don’t know when I will do so.”
