Most complaints to Bandula and SB’s educational matters:
The Higher Commissioner of Parliament also called the ‘Ombudsman’ has received a number of complaints totalling to 1386 in respect of Government officials, the reliable Parliamentary authorities have revealed.
The ‘OMBUDSMAN’, L.A.Tissa Ekanayake has informed the receipt of many complaints against government officers. Out of this total of 1386 the largest amount of complaints amounting to 248 had been received against the Minister of Education and the Minister of Higher Education M/s Bandula Gunawardena and S.B. Dissanayake respectively.
It is reliably reported. Among other complaints it is reported that complaints have been reported against discrepancies of school Principals by appointing incompetent and unsuitable personnel for these posts. Some of these complaints are in respect of salary anomalies and promotions.
There had been 245 complaints against the officers of the Ministry of Public Administration. There have been 171 complaints received against the Central Government and Commissions appointed by Government Departments. There had been 118 complaints against the officers of the Defence Ministry. Among them there had been some complaints against the officers of the Central Transport Board.
Those who have sent complaints to the ‘OMBUDSMAN’ have been for reasons such as appointment of Officers to posts in the Government service, termination of service, promotions, salary anomalies, bribery and corruption, usage of power by Police officers, pension matters, EPF, unauthorised constructions. Some complaints related to various other matters too have been received.
