A QUARREL AT ROYAL THOMIAN ANNUAL LIMITED OVER BIG MATCH



Rival spectators quarrel after the result was announced


There was a quarrel among, the students after the annual limited over ‘big match’ cricket encounter between St Thomas’ College and Royal College at SSC grounds.

This quarrel has started among some students after S.Thomas’ was declared winners according to the Duckworth/Lewis system, when play was called off due to rain and bad light.
The Thomians set Royal a target of 239 runs to win having scored 238 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. At 4.15p.m play was called off owing to bad light with the Royal score on 140 for the loss of 4 wickets made on 29 overs. On resumption Royal were set to score 259 runs in 35 overs according to Duckworth/Lewis system.
When play resumed, the play was called off shortly owing to rain and bad light, with the Royal score on 145 for 4 wickets in 35 overs S.Thomas’ was declared winners under the Duckworth/Lewis system and was awarded the ‘Mustangs’ Trophy.
The quarrel had begun after the decision was made that Thomians were winners and when the players had gone back to the pavilion. The cause of the quarrel is not known 
The cause for this quarrel has not been revealed yet.  Few weeks before 43 big match revelers of Royal College, were arrested during the big match ‘FEVER’ period while trying to enter two popular girls’ schools forcibly and illegally.
