Hirunika’s relationship with her boy friend cracks

The rumour that spread after the assassination of Baratha Lakshman Premachandra was that his death was caused due to his daughter, Hirunika’s relationship with Namal Rajapaksa.
Hirunika who took these rumours as very “serious”allegations, answered these questions aggressively by saying “Don’t create false stories, I have a boy friend and we have been friendly and has had a love relationship  for over 5 years.” She showed Randima Gamage, the son of the Minister Piyasena Gamage as her boy friend. Her statement was published also with her boy friend in each and every electronic media.
What she wanted would have been to stop the rumours.
At the same time, the interviews given by Hirunika’s Mother revealed that Late Baratha Lakshman’s biggest hope was to take his daughter’s wedding this year. Yet it has been 3 months since Baratha’s death. In this short period of time, Hirunika has become a popular character and she has also entered the active political arena very recently.
What happened to the relationship she made popular?
Today (12th), in an interview to ‘Lankadeepa’,  Hirunika has told that her relationship has broken. She states that her fast journey was the main cause for its break up.

You have a boy friend. Isn’t it?

I was in a relationship for over 5 years. Those days I didn’t know how to behave in front of the Media. I answered all the questions raised by the Media without much thought. I was afraid thinking that my father’s image and name would be spoiled because of me. My photos were  on the internet and had said that I was in relationships with other people. What I did was to call the Rupavahini. I showed by boy friend “saying that this is person whom I am going to get married to”. I did such a stupid thing. Now I have understood that we have to follow the middle path when we are doing politics in Sri Lanka. Becoming too honest is also dangerous. When we tell the truth also people try to find faults with us.
My father came to drop me when I went to a foreign University. After a month, the boy whom I was having an affair with also came to the same country. He  looked after me very well.

Will you get married to him?

That relationship is no more. After my father’s death, I realized that I am going too speedily in my new political career. He too will have to face a lot of problems with the path I have chosen. At this moment it is difficult to distract my mind towards anything else.
My mind works on how to win my father’s court case. We decided to go for a break up. It has become a thing that will never happen. I don’t know how things will change in the future. I have already decided to come to politics. Two of us are coming from two political parties. I need to carry my father’s name forward. We haven’t become enemies. Apart from my father, he was the closest to me.
