DUPLICATE LALITH WEERATUNGA CAUGHT

“I am Lalith Weeratunga, President’s Secretary: Could you send some Police Officers to Kandy:”



A 31 year old, nabbed and remanded for misleading the Police.

Two persons who had pretended to be President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and his son Chamath Weeratunga had misled the Police. The suspect had been apprehended by the Police, is a 31 year old young person.
He had telephoned the kegalle Police to seek help for his son. The suspect had initially spoken as the President’s Secretary. Later he had called and said that he is President’s Secretary’s son. It is learnt that he had pretended to speak as two persons.
In this connection a 31 year old resident of Aranayake had been arrested by the kegalle Police and produced before courts. The Magistrate had ordered him to be remanded until the 23rd.
The suspect is supposed to be a technician and it is yet to be known why he acts in this manner, it is reported by the Police. There is suspicion that he does it for pleasure.
The Police on receiving some information had arrested him.
Previously a person from Tambuttegama had called the President’s Secretary, to seek protection, which was a similar incident.
