Once your Father is released and come’s home do your family has an intention of migrating?
APARNA Replies:
Sarath Fonseka’s younger daughter Aparna was interviewed in a special discussion by the “Mawbima” paper, which was published in the last edition of this paper. Some of the questions posed and the views aired by her are appended below:
Has on any day your father had complained about the clothes you had worn?:
Father knows that we do not do wrong things. He ia aware that we wear to suit the occasion. This quality may have come to us from our mother. For fun Father sometimes says the dress is too short?, that too in good humour.
When your Father first came to know about your love affair what was his reaction?
The days when our affair started I could remember well. Father knew, but pretended not to know.”It’s not good to have close relationships with boys” he had quipped. But later he fully understood me.
What do you all do when the family is together?
We always preferred to worship Lord Buddha together.
After the LTTE attack on Sarath Fonseka to regain consciousness you has whispered Sunil Edirisinghe’s song?
Yes. My Father’s favourite song was Sunil Edirisinghe’s “Duwa oba mage pranayai”. When this song was made to heard over a small radio he regained consciousness. At my elder sister’s wedding too this song was played.
What is your opinion about your Father entering politics?
I do not want to talk about it.
What do you think about Gotabhaya uncle?
They were very close to each other. They planned together to win the war. If they stayed like that today it would have been nice. I do not know what had happened. Personally I appeal not to take wrong verdicts, but to do justice to my Father.
Are you asking a pardon on behalf of your Father?
To ask for a pardon my Father had not committed anything wrong. The decision of the family would be according to my Father’s advice.
When your Father is freed will your family migrate to some other country?
I have a small frustration to stay in Sri Lanka. I and my sister may migrate. However my Father and Mother will never leave this country.
