ITN-RAJAPAKSA FAMILY CHANNEL

ITN has actually become our family TV channel admits-NAMAL:

In Parliament yesterday 13th Hambantota district M.P Namal Rajapaksa told not to make the ITN, TV channel our family channel. He said in response to an allegation made by opposition Galle district M.P Gayantha Karunatillake’s confession that ITN “goes to boutique” for the Government particularly for the Rajapaksa family.
This allegation made by the latter was fully endorsed as absolutely correct without any hesitation my M.P. Namal Rajapaksa. He also emphasised that focus on the President is made unnecessarily on numerous occasions on a regular basis in every news bulletins of state run TV channels. This brings negative feelings amongst the viewers, he further emphasised. He said instead of this unnecessary mileage in the news bulletins attention should be focussed on the Governments development work along with any draw backs.
What Namal said was:

“One day all our family members, I, father, mother and my two younger brothers were watching a news telecast of the ITN together. The 1st news item was of the President, the 2nd was of the Speaker, The 3rd was that of Basil Rajapaksa and the 4th was a news item that of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and in the sports news it was about me and my younger brother Yoshita’s Rugby. Because of this the blame comes to my mother and the brothers. Hence I appeal to the Chairmen of all print and electronic Medias not to make their institutions biased by making the Rajapaksa family embarrassed and for the viewers and listeners to call these as Rajapaksa channels.”

Namal Rajapaksa M.P spoke in this regard drawing attention under the caption of expenditure/debt in the committee debate of the media Ministry.
