There is no unemployment question in Sri Lanka.Mason Basses’ earn Rs Three Thousand a day
-Sarath Amunugama
During the budget debate Minister Sarath Amunugama had stated that there is no unemployment question in Sri Lanka. It appears to have been eradicated altogether. As a result there is a dearth of of manpower for the unskilled jobs. Even a’ Mason Bass’ earns about Rs three thousand a day. He had said in this manner:
“In Sri Lanka there is no dearth of jobs. We have brought down the unemployment percentage to 5 %.However according to the existing education system some refrain from doing such labour jobs. However for coconut, rubber and construction fields there is no demand, as most prefer ‘white colour’ jobs. A ‘Mason Baas’ earns around Rs three thousand a day.
(Do not tell lies, objections from the opposition)
Okay send them to our side, the ‘Mason Workers’. We will deploy them for Basil’s work. They will be paid Rs three thousand a day.”
