ASELA JAYAKODY DIES IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT

Asela Jayakody succumbs to his injuries in unfortunate tragic road accident:

Last night popular stage and Tele drama actor Asela Jayakody was knocked down by a speeding vehicle along Negombo road. His vehicle had been parked along the Colombo –Negombo road. His car was parked facing Negombo and after having had some dealings, he has had with a friend had tried to enter the vehicle to go to his residence in Nagoda, Kandana when a speeding vehicle had knocked both of them, the vehicle had fled.
He was rushed to the Ragama Hospital with serious injuries but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries before admission to the Hospital. His friend who survived was transferred to The Colombo National Hospital for further treatment having serious injuries.
Asela emerged to the acting field from stage and had portrayed many roles in Tele drama’s like ‘Synthetic Sihinaya’,’Romeo Juliet’,’Sisila Ima’ and many others. He acted in films like ‘Rosa Pattikki’.’Salaili Varama’, ‘Sonduru Dadayama’ and more recently he acted in the film ‘Gamini’, portraying a major role. He was 37 years old and father of two children.
Owing to the negligence of an incompetent driver the valuable life of a popular stage film and Tele drama was snatched away under tragic circumstances.
His funeral will take place on Wednesday afternoon at the Kandana Nagoda St. John Baptist burial grounds.
It was only a week ago that Asela participated in the ‘Muhurat’ ulela in the new Tele drama ‘Ek tam Ge’, where he posed for many photographs which were his last photos which are shown below.
