RAPE CASE AT AKURESSA EXAM CENTRE DRAWS ATTENTION OF PRESIDENT

Raping of 10 year old girl draws President’s attention

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has given instructions to the Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardena to impose the highest punishment to those found guilty in committing the offence of raping a 10 year old schoolgirl at the Akuressa main examination centre in Matara.
Those Education Ministry Officers who were connected to this incident should be given the highest punishment from the level of the Ministry of Education and in accordance with the law that prevails. The Minister has totally condemned this unfortunate incident.
It is reported that investigations in respect of the Education officers about the incident that occurred at the Tellijawila  (Royal College) examination centre are been carried out and until the investigations are over all those involved have been suspended from work.
