“Once that was told cannot be repeated”-TAKE PHOTOS FROM A DISTANCE: Dilka’s stern comment to the cameramen at media awards ceremony.
Dilka Samanmalee was the Sinhala presenter at the media awards ceremony held yesterday at the Mt. Lavinia hotel. There were cameramen in abundance from various media institutions to cover the event. They all flocked to the stage even covering Dilka, the presenter. This was not at all conducive to Dilka. Initially she made a humble and polite request to them to take photographs from a distance.
When her request was not acceded to, she lost her temper she said ‘do not let me to repeat what I said once’. Her request was disliked by the cameramen.
It is reported that during the dinner which followed the event this matter was discussed.
It is also reported from reliable sources that Dilka at several instances had misread the names of award winners. Once serious error committed was when the names of the Judge Board was announced she had omitted the name of: TillekeratneKuruwitabandarage. This was also talked about.
