Tele-medicine comes to Sri Lanka

TELE MEDICINE TO SRI LANKA

Sri Lanka’s inaugural Tele Medicine Service commenced in Colombo yesterday. From this concept any patient would get the benefit of having easy access to the Doctor of his or her choice.
This facility could be obtained while at home, in hospital or while warded in a Private Nursing Home. A selected Consultant, Surgeon or Doctor could be communicated for a consultation ‘live’ via this new service.
As most Specialists are channeling patients from a base in the Colombo city, those patients in the any outstation city could get easy access to a Consultant Physician, Surgeon of their choice without the hassle of traveling to Colombo. This advantage could be made use of, to the benefit of patients in far away outstation cities.
This concept of Tele-medicine is quite common in many developed countries for some time and had proved to be a very successful venture for patients.
