“My son, Duminda is still in the hospital in Singapore, a part in the cranium is damaged”
Duminda’s father reports:
The court had ordered to arrest Duminda Silva and to find his health condition. Still no action had been taken yet. The CID officers who are in charge of this case had reported the court today that Duminda Silva is not in good health. As reported by Vincent Premalal Silva, Duminda Silva’s father, Duminda Silva is still hospitalized in Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore and he had undergone many surgeries. He had also said that a part of the cranium had been removed and he is to undergo another surgery in April. He had said that Duminda is still unconscious and cannot attend to any of his own personal work.
Shani Abeysekara, representing the Criminal Investigation Department had reported to the courts that he cannot be arrested until he gets well.
She had also stated that the Department will arrest him even without a court order if he could be arrested in the future.
She said that disciplinary actions were taken against the officers who did not accomplish their duties last time when they have to present themselves before the courts. This was the first day after that incident and even though the CID officers presented a statement taken from Duminda Silva’s father, they were unable to present any reports from the related hospital regarding the condition of Duminda Silva.
The law suit was postponed until next 27th.
